Leaders Matias Quero and Johana Ríos continue participating in the leadership training in Bogotá, Colombia, led by Pastor Moisés Gonzalez. Today’s training focused on disciples and fundamental doctrine.
The day’s training began in a highly practical way, with Pastor Moisés teaching about the importance of leaders caring for their disciples. The task involved transplanting sprouted seeds with small formed plants into a larger pot, where the plant could grow in a controlled environment guided by its caretaker. This act symbolized how leaders must serve their disciples, just as Christ Himself did-with patience, care, preparing a suitable place, properly tilling the soil, watering it, and adding fertilizer so the plant grows strong and straight.
Being a leader is no simple task, and this exercise helped them understand in a practical way how they should tend to their disciples. It’s not just about giving orders; it’s about guiding their growth, nurturing them, protecting them, and correcting them when necessary. It also involves preparing the soil and fertilizing before they arrive, leveling the ground so their growth is easier. Sometimes, it means doing difficult work-even if no one recognizes it-so they can go further than we might ever reach. A true leader is also willing to take the first steps without taking credit, so others can reach the goal.
The second part of the training was an in-depth study of doctrine related to our church’s Statement of Faith. The leaders greatly valued this time, as they were able to understand doctrine in a practical way, not just as knowledge. An example of this was the Assurance of Salvation: “Since Christ rose, we have the guarantee that God will accept us” (Romans 8:34). The leaders reflected on how these doctrines are not abstract-they define our identity, hope, and mission.
Finally, the leaders worked together to share their knowledge in business, learning the importance of setting aside dedicated time and space to complete tasks without losing focus, staying organized, and managing responsibilities efficiently.
We ask for prayers that the leaders remain mindful of the importance of discipleship care and continue advancing, following Jesus’ example with His disciples.
