Celebrate the Pentecost: Preparations and Prayers Underway

Pentecost - Advent of the Holy Spirit

OA Latin America is urging all member countries and churches to prepare well for the Pentecost 2020 celebrations that will take place on May 31, 2020.

The Pentecost commemorates the coming of the Holy Spirit after Jesus’ ascension into heaven. The early church was gathered together in Jerusalem waiting for God’s promised “gift” and Acts 2 records how they were all filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of the Pentecost.

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.  Acts 2:1-4

It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that believers receive through which God not only performs His works on earth but also generates new life.

OA Latin America emphasizes once again this important event by stating that without the power of the Holy Spirit, the church would not be able to generate new life or grow since it is the spirit that produces life.

Especially during this season, OA Latin America urges all churches to pray for the ongoing pandemic that is claiming many lives. Churches and members are urged to pray so that this current health crisis may pass and God may quickly heal the world.
